General information for the degree programme

This course of study, complex, interdisciplinary and research-oriented, deals with the forest ecosystem in its components (etc. plants, animals, soils), in its entirety and its manifold products and services. Graduates are prepared for applied professional fields as well as subsequent master programs. They (i) acquire professional knowledge and social skills to address challenges around use and protection of forests; (ii) are able to develop concepts for protection, management and development of natural resources; (iii) can communicate problems as well as suitable solutions to experts and the public, and (iv) have developed strategies for further autonomous learning.

The programme consists of highly interdisciplinary modules. 25% of the modules are mandatory electives, thus offering students the chance to find their own specialisation.

The course of study includes the following subject fields:
- general ecology,
- biometrics,
- zoology,
- geobotany,
- wildlife ecology,
- policy and economics,
- timber mensuration, etc.

Before graduation, students need to write a bachelor thesis (topic to be chosen individually).
