Admission requirements
To be admitted to the degree program, applicants must have completed a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or a comparable university entrance qualification.

• Or a certified qualification according to Section 10(1)(1) of the German Midwifery Act (Hebammengesetz)
• A contract for academic midwifery training for the next possible winter semester starting with a practice partner contractually associated with TU Dresden, signed by both parties to the contract
• An extended certificate of good conduct in accordance with Section 30a(1) of the BZRG (German Act on the Central Criminal Register and the Educative Measures Register) as confirmation that the applicant has not been found guilty of any behavior that makes him or her unworthy or unreliable with respect to completing the midwifery degree program
• Suitability with respect to health for completing the degree program
• An internship of at least 4 weeks duration in one or a combination of the following areas:
a) Clinical duties with a focus on obstetrics, work in a postpartum ward, or work in a gynecological ward
b) Out-of-hospital midwifery activity in a birthing center within a midwifery practice or with freelance midwives
c) Work with a registered gynecologist/obstetrician with a focus on prenatal care and/or prenatal diagnostics
If the completion of an internship is not or was not possible for the winter semester 2021/22 due to the pandemic, a rejection from the internship institution will instead be required.

Notes on the application process
Before applying to the degree program, you must first submit an application to a practice partner. To do so, you can apply directly to the clinics with which TU Dresden has concluded cooperation agreements starting from March 15. The application deadline for most of the cooperating clinics is April 15. Please contact the cooperating clinics directly to find out more about the individual application deadlines and the documents to be submitted. General information about the degree program
In the dual classroom studies, prospective midwives are taught skills for caring for women and families through pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatally in an inpatient and outpatient context at a high scientific level. Extensive practical vocational skills are acquired during the practical work at cooperating practice facilities. The principles of scientific work are taught based on research focuses in clinical and psychosocial areas.
