Presentation of the Center
The Center for International Studies (ZIS) was founded in January 2002 as a central academic institution of the TU Dresden and took over the sponsorship of the Bachelor's and the Master's program "International Relations" (SIB). Both programs are interdisciplinary and combine the disciplines of international law (international and European law), international economics (economics) and international politics (political science). In the Master's program, students choose one of three specializations at the beginning of their studies: "Global Political Economy" (International Economics and International Politics) and "International Organisations and Institutions" (International Law and International Politics), resp. "International Law and Economics" (International Law and International Economics).
In addition to organizing and coordinating both specializations, ZIS is active in research to bring together and further develop interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of International Relations / International Relations. Other goals of the CIS are to continue and expand the promotion of intra- and inter-university networking, cooperation with non-university research institutions, public institutions, and with the private sector.
Through its alumni network, ZIS has close ties to alumni. As part of the alumni guest lecture series "IB as a profession - From ZIS into the world - ", alumni tell current students about their experiences after graduation and give tips and advice. As part of the ZIS Mentoring Program, around 120 alumni are available to current students as personal contacts for questions about Master's programs, doctoral studies, internships and working life.
