TU Dresden (TUD) is the city’s largest employer with it's 8,500 staff. The university not only employs lecturers and researchers, but also experts who make sure that the processes in the institutes, labs and lecture halls run smoothly. They keep our computers from crashing and ensure that salaries get paid on time. They maintain our research infrastructure and cultivate our public green spaces. Every business has to deal with these kinds of tasks. And yet, TU Dresden is different. Working here, you are part of an institution whose work directly benefits everyone.

A modern university with tradition

Even though TU Dresden can look back on almost 200 years of science and innovation, it is far from dusty and outdated. At TUD, you will find a young and dynamic place to work. In fact, we offer a lively, spirited and vibrant working environment to people from all over the world. Our cultural diversity is an asset to all. TUD was the first university in Germany to create a dedicated Vice-Rectorate University Culture. We are always striving towards creating a future-oriented university – a university that is international, sustainable, socially engaged, diverse and inclusive.

People who work in research and teaching at TUD do not have a nine-to-five job – we’ve come up with a few ideas to help balance work and private life. This includes flexible working hours, numerous childcare options, health management and a job ticket (also "Deutschlandticket") for public transport. Moreover, we have a comprehensive continuing education program for our staff, which is a key component of personnel development at our university.

Over the centuries, the inhabitants of Dresden have transformed the city into a unique cultural landscape. The resolve to create something new and beautiful characterizes the city – as does the diversity of the people and their perspectives. The city, nestled on the banks of the Elbe, has so much to offer: It is safe, has a good public transport network, excellent schools and a wide range of leisure activities, whether you are interested in sports, culture or looking for something family-friendly. What’s more, Dresden is an astonishingly affordable city to live in.
