Writing Consultation Services
Are you looking for individual support? Would you like to discuss your approach to writing and reading? Would you like some constructive feedback?
Anything that concerns you in connection with your writing project can be the subject of a writing consultation. You can come to the writing consultation at any stage of writing - from the first vague idea to the text ready for submission - with or without a written text and regardless of the type of academic text.
You can find more information on how exactly a writing consultation can take place, what you can bring with you, when and where writing consultations take place online and in person and how you can register on the website for writing consultations and in the OPAL course with registration for writing consultations.
In writing consulting, we advise students of all disciplines on all aspects of scientific writing (writing process, working techniques, writing inhibitions, text feedback, etc.). We do not read complete papers with correction of spelling, commas and stylistic finishing touches. For this, we offer you referrals to volunteers: For more information, see our proofreading assistance webpage.
Do you need basic information on academic writing or related topics? Are you looking for new strategies for learning and writing and would like to try them out in a group and receive feedback from other students?
Currently, the Writing Center is also offering workshops, events and lectures on academic reading and writing in English specifically for international students as part of the STUDY SMART network project. Enrollment takes place via the OPAL course STUDY SMART.
Take advantage of the Writing Center's online workshops (in German): our tutors will support you with academic writing - specifically for your current writing project or in preparation for your next writing assignment: you can find an overview of the current workshops and information on how to register under "For students" > "Workshops".
Every semester, the Writing Center of TU Dresden and the SLUB offer a joint series of events on the basics of academic reading and writing.
When and where:
- during the lecture period on Wednesdays, 4th double period (13:00 - 14:30), online
Participation in the series can be credited with 1 to 2 CP in the Aqua area or with 2 CP or 4 CP in the supplementary teaching area. All information on the individual workshops as well as registration for the various options for participation can be found in the OPAL course "Fundamentals of Academic Reading and Writing".
Of course, it is also possible to participate in individual workshops. Registration is possible in the OPAL course of the Writing Center in the respective semester program. A certificate of attendance can be issued on request.

About Tutors for Academic:
The diversity of offers at the Writing Center is made possible with the support of student tutors. Our student tutors mainly carry out the workshops and counselling offers for students. This encourages joint learning with peers, which makes it easier to ask questions openly and discuss strengths and weaknesses, as well as talk about experiences. We train the student tutors for their assigned tasks. The structuring, implementation, evaluation and development of this training and the close supervision of the tutors are amongst the central tasks of the Writing Center.
