The guarantee of information security, the protection of personal data and all relevant information is one of the central challenges for Technische Universität Dresden. Information security is a core requirement for all business processes. The aim is to ensure that technical, organizational, personnel and infrastructural risks with regard to information and its processing are reduced to a tolerable level while complying with the relevant statutory and legal provisions. Risks arise, among other things, from the increasing dependence on information infrastructures as well as their networking and interdependence and the growing degree of mobility in their use.
Protecting knowledge and innovation is one of the prerequisites for successful cutting-edge research and effective management.
The University Executive Board is therefore supported by the Unit Information Security in fulfilling its responsibilities. The Data Protection Officer and the IT Security Officer and the CERT of TU Dresden are organizationally combined in this Unit. The IT Security Officer and the Data Protection Officer and the CERT report to the CDIO of TU Dresden. One of the most important tasks is to advise members of TU Dresden on data protection and data security. There is also an obligation to monitor compliance with legal and statutory provisions. This applies not only to data protection, but also to the examination of information infrastructures with regard to the technological advancements.
