For collaboration in working groups, ZIH offers the groupware service Microsoft Exchange Server to all employees, students and guests of TU Dresden. To use the service, you need an Exchange mailbox, which is automatically set up for you.
Besides the management of personal e-mails as well as sending and editing of e-mails by proxy, it is also possible to use common calendars, tasks and contact lists. E.g. meetings could be coordinated via e-mail invitation and planned with the help of interims displayed in the common calendar.
If desired, special mail accounts can be setup for the management of commonly used ressources, e.g. conference rooms, beamers, cameras etc.
The e-mail account access should be carried out with Microsoft Outlook 2016. The use of MS Outlook 2010 and 2013 is also supported. Students of TU Dresden may download the software free of charge from the Campus Sachsen Website.
Microsoft Exchange Anywhere (RPC via HTTPS) enables you to work with your e-mail account worldwide via MS Outlook without a VPN connection.
You can access your mailbox via the Webclient OWA (Outlook Web App) https://msx.tu-dresden.de with common internet browsers.
ActiveSync takes care about synchronisation of your e-mail account with modern mobile end devices (Smartphones etc.). You will get push notifications about incoming e-mails and appointments. Changes can also be notified, if desired.
