Information how to set up your e-mail inbox
In our FAQ portal you will find instructions on how to set up your e-mail inbox in various programmes.
Notes on attachments
It may happen that file attachments cannot be transported for various reasons (files are too large or type of file is considered to be potentially virus-laden) and thus e-mails cannot be sent. In the FAQ portal, you can find relevant information on e-mail attachments.
Encryption / Digital Signature / PKI /SecureMail
S/MIME allows for secure communication. Messages are encrypted so that only the sender and the receivers can see it. In adition, the identity of a sender can be checked using a digital signature. Together, both will help in the discovery of manipulations and allows the recipients to determine if the message is really from the sender or if it is, for example, a fraudulent phishing mail.
Our FAQ portal describes how you can request a user certificate. If you already have a PKI certificate, learn how to install this on your computer below: Set up email encryption in the email program
If you want to communicate encrypted with research and cooperation partners who do not have a digital key material, you can use SecureMail. For more information, click the following link Information SecureMail.
Dealing with unwanted and dangerous emails (spam, phishing, etc.)
Different categories of unwanted e-mails also occur at TU Dresden. In our FAQ portal you can find information on dealing with unsolicited emails.
Procedure when leaving the TU Dresden (Redirection Requests)
Together with the ZIH account, the e-mail use also expires as soon as the respective users are no longer employees (due to the end of the contract), students (due to exmatriculation) or guests (due to the expiry of the guest relationship) of TU Dresden. Employees can set up a redirection or notification order for emails before their login expires. In our FAQ portal, you can find information on how to set up a redirection or notification order.
