DDtrust - Dresden Data Trust Center
Advancing digitization is accompanied by an increased networking of actors in research and industry. An essential part of such policy is enabling an active and simple data exchange that ensures participation, prevents data monopolies and restrains data misuse. With the scope of the federal data strategy to enable innovative and responsible data supply and use, the "Federal Ministry of Education and Research" (BMBF) supports the (further) development of data trust models. Previously established data trust models are almost exclusively limited to healthcare applications. A data trustee is organizationally interposed as a trusted intermediary between data provider and data recipient and takes on a range of services related to topics like quality, usability and reusability of the data and compliance with data protection rights.
In the DD-Trust project, TU Dresden and its partners will design a data trust agency for Saxonys scientific and economic area, test it in practice and ultimately establish it.
In this context, the Center for Information Services and High-Performance Computing (ZIH) takes on the implementation of the required software and IT tools as well as IT support. The technical solutions to be developed will have to be able to support, among other things, processes for consent management, pseudonym management, trustworthy data exchange and authentication and authorization. On top of that further functions will be required based on the respective requirements of a number of involved use cases from industry and science. Furthermore, the existing infrastructure of the ZIH is used wherever possible. In this context the software components already in use at the „Unabhängigen Treuhandstelle Medizin“ (UTM) are going to be further developed or used as a model. The close coordination and cooperation with UTM and the “Institute of International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law“ (IRGET) as well as with the partners involved in the use cases ensures agile and practical development.
