Qualification program
(Early-career) researchers can gain qualifications in university didactics as part of the Teaching Synergies Program. Ideally, participants will complete all three program elements in an order of their choice, thus learning to design a student-centered and research-oriented course (TEACHING), to plan, conduct and reflect on a research-oriented course (in teaching tandems) (SYNERGIES) and to prepare their next career step in teaching (PROGRAM).
The components of the Teaching Synergies Program are:
In the specially designed self-study course TEACHING in Higher Education - Basics, researchers can learn about the basics of didactics in higher education individually and according to their needs. If all learning units have been completed, a certificate of participation up to 24 working units will be issued. This course can be worked on by interested persons on the one hand as preparation for the element SYNERGIES and on the other hand as individual training for teaching.
Learning Objectives
After completing the asynchronous digital OPAL self-study course, participants will be able to design a student-centered and research-oriented course by ...
- knowing the basics of planning a course,
- knowing the meaning of learning objectives and define them for the course in a competence-oriented way,
- knowing and applying the concept of Constructive Alignment,
- understanding the different phases of a course and select student-centered/research-oriented methods accordingly,
- knowing the basics of research-oriented teaching and apply them accordingly to the course content,
- understanding teaching-related university structures and apply their acquired knowledge in the preparation of a module description.
Procedure
The self-study course is designed to be flexible, so there are no fixed course times or dates. You can decide for yourself which content you would like to work on at what time and to what extent.

You can register for the self-study course directly via OPAL. If you do not have a ZIH login, please contact us.
In the core element SYNERGIES through research-oriented teaching, scientists from DRESDEN-concept research institutions and lecturers from TU Dresden form a teaching tandem and teach a research-oriented course.
Learning objectives
After completion of the element SYNERGIES, the participants are able to plan, conduct and reflect on a research-oriented course (in teaching tandem) by ...
- knowing the different approaches of research-oriented teaching and apply them accordingly to their course,
- selecting current research topics according to didactic aspects and designing them in a student-oriented way,
- consulting with colleagues about their planned research-oriented course,
- knowing the opportunities and challenges associated with research-oriented teaching and take these into account in the implementation.
Procedure
The SYNERGIES element takes place during the semester with a fixed group of participants. Before participating in the element, the curricular integration (e.g. in the form of a teaching tandem) must be clarified.
Access
If you are interested, please fill out the form. We will then get in touch with you promptly about how to proceed in concrete terms. Please allow enough time for the matching process with a teaching tandem.
The basic idea of the element PROGRAM for advanced teaching and career opportunities is the recognition of planned teaching activities or other measures in terms of career planning, which contribute to further teaching-related professionalization in the university context. It is planned to recognize teaching-related activities planned by researchers in the element PROGRAM of the qualification program. Accordingly, no special offers will be developed for this element, but teaching-related activities in the university context (such as the creation of a teaching portfolio, participation in a Teaching Excellence Track) will be individually didactically accompanied and thus receive recognition in the form of a proof.
Learning objectives
The learning objectives are agreed upon individually with the researchers in the sense of a coaching concept. For the element PROGRAM, the following goals can be defined.
After completing the element PROGRAM, participants will be able to prepare their next teaching-related career step by ...
- reflecting on their next career step and the development steps to be derived from it,
- formulating their own learning objectives for this element,
- planning the achievement of the learning objectives,
- selecting individual learning paths and support needs,
- working on achieving the individually set learning goals.
Procedure
As this element is based on individual consultation and guidance, there are no deadlines or registration periods to consider . You can contact us at any time and we will arrange an individual consultation appointment with you.
Access
We would be happy to discuss with you which next teaching-related activity will bring you closer to your own career goal. Please feel free to contact us for this purpose.
