General explanations of the Study Office School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Clarification of terms
A few terms need to be clarified in advance.
A module is a teaching unit consisting of one or more courses (seminars, lectures, etc.) with a common learning objective. Modules must be completed with a final module examination. The final module examination can consist of one or more examinations, such as a written examination and/or term paper. There is a fixed number of credit points for this. The final module examination is either assessed with a grade or the module is booked as "passed".
The module number in selma identifies a study element, e.g. in a study plan. It is usually made up of the cost center of the faculty and the teaching or examining institution and the number for the module stored in the study regulations (and in the module handbook).
Note: All letters and numbers after the hyphen must always be entered for quick identification of the module in question or to help you find it more quickly.
The course number (more commonly known as the course number) always starts with "K..." and is made up of the previously mentioned number combinations.
Please note: Courses can be integrated into several modules and will therefore not always have the same number as the corresponding module.
As with the module number, the examination number is made up of the cost center of the faculty and the teaching/examining institution and the module number of the study regulations.
Please note: there may be deviations from the module number here.
A distinction is made between
- module-accompanying examination performance: the examination performance is related to a course in the module. Therefore, the examination number is also formed from the course number and begins with "K...".
- Final module examination: the examination is related to the module. Therefore, the examination number is also formed from the module number and begins with "M...".
Registration for modules, courses and (preliminary) examinations
When registering in selma, the following sequence must be observed:
- Module registration: Registration for courses and/or (preliminary) examinations is only possible if a module registration has been made
- Registration for courses: material uploaded by the lecturer and other information is only visible to participants who are registered and accepted in selma.
- Registration for (preliminary) examinations: for module-accompanying (preliminary) examinations, registration is only possible if the corresponding course has been registered by the student and accepted by the chair in the system (oral consultations have no legal validity)
LM 220 in the winter semester 2024/25
Course enrollment/enrollment for the course
- K1507-LM2201Ü Specialist planning (Ü) and K1507-LM2203S Overall planning: until 15.10.2024 3 pm.
Examination enrolment
A distinction must be made between enrolment for the preliminary examination (PVL) and the final examination (PL). PVL is a certificate consisting of participation in exercises in both parts of the module and a presentation with written elaboration in the overall planning part. PL is an oral examination that can be taken after successful participation in both parts of the module.
- K1507-LM2201Ü Fachplanung (Ü) and K1507-LM2201S Gesamtplanung(S): Enrolment (possibly re-enrolment) always in the first module semester that is taken, the enrolment is then automatically transferred to Selma when changing to the second module semester. In the winter semester 2024/25 , registration takes place from 08.10. - 18.10.2024.
K ... indicates that the PVL is linked to the course and that the system automatically registers students for the PVL when they register for the course. This means that students must deregister from the course if they do not wish to complete the PVL (and therefore also the course). Otherwise, a failing grade of 5 will be awarded.
- M1507-LM220 Oral examination: Enrolment in winter semester 2024/25 11.11. - 04.12.2024.
M ... indicates that independent registration for the PL is required.
