The School of Architecture integrates theoretical, artistic, technical and ecological components. Complexity, broad horizons and large-scale concepts are important concerns. Practical reasoning skills combined with in-depth scientific knowledge will enable graduates to position themselves in the dynamic work place of the future. Comprehensive teaching approaches (interdisciplinary seminars, projects, field trips) and the modular structure of the curriculum encourage acquisition of knowledge and its practical application. Students work in small, interdisciplinary project groups, similar to professional research and work teams.

A key aspect of the planning-oriented education of landscape architects at the TU Dresden is the connection of artistic, creative, scientific, ecological, planning and technical disciplines, which is realized in cooperation with other courses and departments of the TU Dresden. The programme consists of twenty-seven mandatory modules, among them landscape architecture, landscape construction, landscape planning, plant selection, historic garden conservation, urban design and ecology, and three mandatory electives, among them building history and strategies for nature conservation.

The four-semester programme conveys knowledge, abilities and skills for planning, design and development of open spaces and landscapes in different scale levels. It qualifies for a self-sufficient and responsible planning, design and scientific work. Graduates will be able to cope with the central working fields of Landscape architecture, among them landscape design, landscape planning, landscape construction, plant use, urban planning, history of landscape architecture and landscape heritage. Contrary to the trend of specialization the programme offers the chance of a broad range of qualifications.
