Content: Wildfires and abiotic risk factors
Content: Basics on wildfires and abiotic risk factors (storm, snow, frost etc.) including monitoring, prognosis and management.
Qualification objectives: Students gain knowledge on applied basics in the mentioned fields of forest protection, particularly on the ecological and economic meaning of wildfires, the cause, development, spread and management of wildfires as well as the effects of abiotic risk factors and options for adaptation of forests. They are also competent with regard to the application of monitoring, prognosis and management methods, and are able to plan and implement adaptation and stabilisation methods.

Usability
This module is one out of 25 elective modules of the Forest Science bachelor degree, of which modules have to be chosen according to § 26 paragraph 3 sentence 2 of the examination regulations.
Requirements for credit points
Credit points are received, if the module exam is passed. The exam is a written exam (120 minutes).
Credit points and grades
Students can gain 5 ETCS by passing this module. The module grade is the grade of the exam.
Module frequency and duration
This one-semester module is offered every winter semester.
Workload
The total workload is 150 hours.
