At the chair of Electric Railways we research and teach in the field of electric traffic systems. Main topics are power generation, power transmission and distribution, power supply, the electric vehicle, current return circuit and influence of electric facilities as well as vehicle and system operation.

Single components and subsystems are considered in overall context of the electric systems. Beside electric railways and local area traffic we also cover unconventional train systems and electric road transport.

In addition to teaching und research we offer further education and measurements at the chair of Electric Railways.

In our further education the employees of interested companies are taught either in overall context of electric traffic systems or in special fields. On top of that we offer in cooperation with other chairs of the Technische Universitaet Dresden a detailed further training in rail vehicles.

We perform measurements in the fields of electric vehicles, catenary and power supply. We realise and support your measurement projects, concepts and implementations up to evaluations of your recorded data.

Research, teaching and further education are complemented with our software equipment and laboratories from the chair.
