Christian Flechsig worked as a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Logistics from September 2018 to September 2023. He recently submitted his dissertation and is now moving into practice.
1. What were the most important stages you went through as a research assistant at the faculty?
I hadn't originally considered staying at TU Dresden, as I wanted to finally work practically in industry after graduating. However, during my diploma thesis, Prof. Lasch convinced me to work in the large EU project "iDev40", which was intended to advance the digitalization of processes and supply chains in the European semiconductor industry. This three-year, very practical project was a lot of fun and resulted in very good project results and several publications. In addition, I was allowed to support the preparation of two extensive project proposals. Over the past two years, I have led more courses and advanced my dissertation, which I submitted at the end of August. In addition, I have been a member of the examination board and as a faculty fire safety officer since 2021.
2. Looking back, which projects and tasks were particularly important to you and will probably be remembered?
During the last five years, I have been able to take on many different projects and tasks, which has allowed me to develop both professionally and personally. Through the iDev40 project, I gained many valuable contacts and experiences in the semiconductor industry, especially in IT project management and software development. The project also helped me to gain clarity about my future career path. In addition, I enjoyed teaching and supervising students. There, I was able to practically test different project management and leadership approaches and find and optimize my own style. In addition, the numerous opportunities for further education at the TU Dresden will remain in my positive memory. The many workshops and career programs offered by the Graduate Academy, the training provided by the Center for Continuing Education and the Career Service, and the SprInt program for further languages and intercultural training have made a significant contribution to my ability to perform better in my projects and tasks, and to my professional and personal development. The Teaching Center for Well-Being and Movement provided health care, which I can also highly recommend :).
3. What is the next step professionally?
After an extended vacation, I will start as a consultant at the software developer and IT service provider adesso SE in November. In terms of content, I can tie in with my activities from the iDev40 project and support the manufacturing industry in the digitalization and automation of their business processes. Furthermore, I am excited by the opportunity to further establish the still rather young adesso location in Dresden by new projects and cooperations with local companies. Finally, I would like to sincerely thank the many dedicated people at the Faculty of Business and Economics and the TU Dresden with whom I have had the opportunity to work over the last five years, and I would be happy to stay in touch!
