1. Standing Doctoral Committee
The Standing Doctoral Committee is responsible for conducting the faculty's doctoral procedures. The committee's tasks include examining the admission requirements for a doctoral programme, accepting doctoral candidates, initiating doctoral procedures, appointing examiners, and deciding on problems and special cases.

With the entry into force of the doctoral regulations PromO 2018, PromO 2010 is only valid for doctoral candidates who have already commenced the doctoral procedure.

3. Prerequisites for the admission to the doctoral programme
The requirements of the Faculty of Business and Economics for applicants to be admitted to a doctoral programme are stipulated in § 6 of the doctoral degree regulations dated 9th August 2018. According to § 8 Para. 5 you also need a higher education lecturer or a TUD Young Investigator of the Faculty of Business and Economics who agrees to undertake the scientific supervision of your doctorate.
4. Application for the admission as a doctoral candidate (acceptance)
Admission to the doctoral programme is granted upon application to the Standing Doctoral Committee of the Faculty of Business and Economics in accordance with § 8 of the Doctoral Regulations of the Faculty of Business and Economics dated 9th August 2018. The Standing Doctoral Committee checks whether you meet all the admission requirements.
For the application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate, please use the online system Promovendus. You can access Promovendus via the internet at any time. You will need a valid ZIH user account to login to Promovendus.
Enrolled students as well as employees of TU Dresden automatically receive ZIH login details. If you have not yet received ZIH login details, you can file an application for a guest login which your supervisor has to sign. You can find the application for a ZIH user account on the website of the ZIH. Please contact the Service Desk of TU Dresden in case of any questions or problems with the ZIH user account.
Promovendus will generate an application document for you which you will have to hand in to the Faculty of Business and Economics:

Please note that you are required to submit the following documents together with your application for admission as a doctoral candidate:
- officially certified copy and, if applicable, translations into German or English of the university degree relevant for admission
- officially certified copy and, if necessary, translations into German or English of course record book with grades of the relevant university degree
- officially certified copy and translations into German or English, if applicable, of all additional university degrees
- copy of the certificate of a general higher education entrance qualification (in most cases A-Levels / Abitur)
- curriculum vitae in tabular form with a description of the academic career including documentary evidence of already completed additional studies or examinations in officially certified form
- Supervision agreement (incl. work plan) with the responsible university lecturer of the faculty in the original including signature of the university of applied sciences lecturer in cooperative procedures
- Written proof (receipt) that a certificate of good conduct to be sent to the faculty in accordance with § 30 para. 5 of the Federal Central Register Act (BZRG) has been applied for at the responsible registration authority
5. Official certifications and equivalence reviews of foreign university degrees
In order to be accepted as a doctoral candidate, you need certified copies and, if applicable, certified translations of your university certificates as well as a certified course record book with grades. Information on the certification of documents issued by an institution other than TU Dresden can be found on the website of TU Dresden´s certification office.
If you have completed your studies abroad or have a foreign citizenship, your documents will be sent by the Faculty of Business and Economics to the International Office of TU Dresden for an equivalence review after applying for acceptance as a doctoral candidate. The online database http://www.anabin.de enables you to find out in advance about the equivalent value of your degree.
6. Enrolment in doctoral studies
Enrolment in the doctoral programme is on a voluntary basis. Further details can be found in the regulations for enrolment of TU Dresden. To apply for enrolment as a doctoral candidate, please use the following website of the Admissions Office.
Please note that you cannot be enrolled as a doctoral candidate until you have been included in the list of doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Business and Economics by the Standing Doctoral Committee.
7. Additional services
Admission to the list of doctoral candidates may be subject to conditions (e.g. to passing an aptitude test in accordance with § 7 of the doctoral regulations of the Faculty of Business and Economics in the case of degrees from other disciplines). These are determined by the Standing Doctoral Committee and are communicated to the student in question with the admission notice for acceptance as a doctoral candidate.
Proof of successful completion must be provided at the very latest upon commencing the doctoral procedure.
8. Commencing the doctoral examination procedure
The commencement of the doctoral procedure is regulated in § 9 of the PromO 2018.
The application for the opening of the doctoral procedure must be submitted to the chairperson of the Standing Doctoral Committee.
For the application for opening of the doctorate proceedings please use the online system Promovendus.
You can access Promovendus via the internet at any time. You will need a valid ZIH user account to login to Promovendus. Enrolled students, as well as employees of TU Dresden, automatically receive ZIH login details. If you have not yet received ZIH login details, you can file an application for a guest login which your supervisor has to sign. You can find the application for a ZIH user account on the website of the ZIH. Please contact the Service Desk of TU Dresden in case of any questions or problems with the ZIH user account.

Please note that you are required to submit the following documents together with the application to commence the doctoral procedure:
- curriculum vitae in tabular form with description of academic career
- notification of admission as a doctoral candidate pursuant to § 8 as a copy and, if applicable, documentary evidence of fulfilment of conditions imposed
- the dissertation and an abstract in five bound copies each in German or English and in electronic form
- a list of scientific publications
- Proof of successful participation in two achievements in cross-chair doctoral courses that are recognised by the Faculty of Business and Economics. Proof must be provided in the form of confirmations from the respective expert representative as well as proof of successful participation in two further academic achievements in method-oriented doctoral courses, each of which is recognised by the Faculty of Business and Economics. Please note the information on obtaining certificates of achievement.
- Written proof (receipt) that a certificate of good conduct to be sent to the faculty according to § 30 para. 5 of the Federal Central Register Act (BZRG), which is no older than 6 months, has been applied for at the responsible registration authority.
- The doctoral candidate's written declaration to open the doctoral procedure, including the current date and signature
9. Certificate of good conduct
In order to apply for admission as a doctoral candidate and for commencing the doctoral procedure, you require written proof (receipt) that a certificate of good conduct to be sent to the faculty has been applied for at the responsible registration authority according to § 30 para. 5 Federal Central Register Act (BZRG). The certificate of good conduct must not be older than 6 months at the time of submission or opening of the doctoral procedure (§9 (1) 8 PromO2018). When applying for a certificate of good conduct (e.g. at the Citizens Registration Office Dresden Plauen, Nöthnitzer Str. 2, 01187 Dresden), the following address must be provided:

10. Completed doctoral program and Alumni network
The doctoral degrees completed to date from 2001 can be accessed in the archive of doctoral degrees.
We would be delighted if you wish to remain in contact with the Faculty of Business and Economics after completing your doctorate and become a member of nexus e.V., the Alumni Association of the faculty.
Furthermore, we would like to draw your attention to the general alumni network of TU Dresden.
