Structure and Course of Study

in both study tracks, the Bachelor of Business Education and Management Training comprises three sections: the compulsory area addressing the discipline's basics, followed by the elective area with numerous options for specialization, and the Bachelor's thesis. The total workload is 180 credit points. In a full-time program, 30 credit points should be acquired per semester, implying a standard period of study of 6 semesters.

You may study track I also on a flexible part-time basis. In this case, you are to earn 15 credit points per semester, and the standard period of study changes accordingly. Find more detailed information at the regulations for part-time studies at the TU Dresden (in German only).

Compulsory Area

In both study tracks, the compulsory part contains business administration, economics, and  business education.

The parts on Business Administration and Economics equip you with introductory knowledge in these two fields, complemented by Business Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, and Law. You can learn more about the detailed contents of the fields by clicking on the respective links in the German version of this website. There, you will also find a semester plan indicating which modules you should attend in which semester.

In Business Education and Management Training, you will learn the basics of educational psychology, business didactics, and commercial training systems. In addition, you must complete practical school studies and a school internship.

In study track II, you take additional compulsory modules in one of the following qualification tracks:

German language English language Ethics/Philosophy, Protestant religion, Catholic religion,

Computer Science, History, French language, Mathematics.

Elective Area

Once you have passed the central compulsory modules of the first semester, you may enter the elective area.

In study track I, the elective area begins in the 3rd semester and comprises 65 credit points. You can choose from modules in the fields Business Administration, Economics, and/or Supplement, obeying the restrictions that

• at least 15 credit points must be from the field of Business Education and Management Training and
• at least 30 credit points must be from the fields of Business Administration and/or Economics!

In study track II, electives concentrate on the last two semesters. There are 30 credit points, of which you have to take modules in the amount of

• 10 credit points from the field of Business Education and Management Training and
• 20 credit points from the fields of Business Administration and/or Economics!

Bachelor's Thesis

Typically, the program ends with the Bachelor's Thesis. With that thesis, you demonstrate your skills in presenting and analyzing an economic problem in a scientific manner. The Bachelor Thesis takes four months and earns 10 credit points.

To start with the Bachelor's Thesis, you must have acquired at least 130 credit points and have participated in an empirical research study as a test person.  Also, you must begin no later than the semester after passing the last exam.

The Chairs of the Faculty have different regulations on topic assignment, registration and (formal) requirements for the thesis. Please inform yourself here at the Chair of your choice!
