Continuing education and advisory services

The university offers extensive advisory and continuing education services. TU Dresden’s academic staff and doctoral candidates are obliged to complete at least one training course either online or in person on the topic of good scientific practice.
Graduate Academy services
The Graduate Academy’s trained advisors and coaches offer individual counseling on good scientific practice and on conflicts between doctoral students, postdocs and supervisors. Confidentiality is guaranteed and value is placed on a solution-oriented approach based on mutual respect. If necessary, contact will be established with other supporting offices at TU Dresden. The Graduate Academy's service includes mediation with all parties involved in the conflict. Counseling and mediation can also take place in English.
The Graduate Academy regularly organizes introductory courses on good scientific practice for doctoral students. Moreover, all five Schools of TU Dresden as well as the Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden (cfaed), the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) and the Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering all offer subject-specific training on good scientific practice provided by qualified specialists. Services at the Center for Continuing Education
According to § 3 of the Statutes for Ensuring Good Scientific Practice, Avoiding Scientific Misconduct and Handling Violations, university lecturers are obliged to complete at least one training course on the topic of good scientific practice. To this end, the Center for Continuing Education (ZfW) provides training courses especially geared toward professors.

Supervision of early-career researchers
The supervision agreement is intended to optimize the framework conditions for doctoral studies at TU Dresden. It ensures the high standards for academic education at TU Dresden. The aim of this agreement is to regulate the specific rights and obligations regarding the cooperation between the doctoral candidate and the supervisory team, based on the doctoral regulations. The agreement provides transparency for all parties and is particularly helpful in difficult phases, supporting candidates in completing their doctoral studies.
