The European Commission has launched a Pilot “OpenAIRE2020” to fund Open Access publications for finalized FP7-funded projects through OpenAIRE. As a consequence, a pilot funding instrument, called "EC FP7 Post-Grant Gold Open Access", to support Open Access publishing for post-grant FP7 projects has been initiated.

A maximum of three publications per project will be funded. The post-grant Open Access Pilot will cover OA Article Processing Charges (APCs) for FP7 projects up to two years after they end.  Publications must be peer-reviewed and can be funded with 2000 €. Monographs can be funded with 6000 €.
