How do you start developing an individual RDM?
Every research data management project is individual and can rarely be clearly planned at the outset. In practice, it has been shown that it is advantageous to initially consider an RDM project holistically along the following key points:
- IT architecture - Which IT components support the project in a meaningful way?
-
Conceptual measures - What measures are necessary to use the IT components productively?
-
Responsibilities - Which roles or structures are required for implementation?
-
Resources and appreciation - What resources do those responsible need and how can a sustainable appreciation system be established?
By taking a holistic view, you analyze how the individual ideas, framework conditions and experiences affect the planned RDM project. This will give you an initial idea of how the project can be implemented in a busy research and teaching environment.
Are you currently planning a (small or large) RDM project or are you interested in the concept of a holistic RDM solution?
