FELLOWS IN PROFILE: DR. MARIA LIßNER
Dr. Maria Lißner is one of five outstanding young researchers who have been awarded with a Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowship in summer 2021. She prevailed over numerous competitors in the two-stage selection process and presented a highly interesting pitch to the selection committee, which is chaired by the Rector of TU Dresden. After moving from the University of Oxford to TU Dresden, Dr. Lißner started in January 2022 her research project at the Dresden Center for Intelligent Materials (DCIM) and at the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology.
»Receiving the Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowship is a great success. This fellowship provides me security in which I can focus primarily on strengthening my scientific profile. This greatly supports the further development of my academic career with the aim to lead an independent research group within TU Dresden.
Furthermore the Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowship enables me to establish new national and international collaborations as well as to strengthen the ones I already have. This will really benefit the application for the planned Emmy Noether Programme.
The application process for the Maria Reiche Postdoctoral Fellowship was a good preparation for other attractive fellowships for me as early career researcher. I appreciate the support from the host professor at TU Dresden and the support from my PhD supervisor at the University of Oxford, which have contributed to the successful application.
Furthermore, the interview, including the 3-minute pitch, was a great experience. It challenged me to present my planned research project in a precise, but still informative and, above all, understandable way. This is an important quality if you want to contribute to a successful knowledge transfer.
I can only recommend it to everyone to apply for this fellowship. The application process itself is a great experience, while the Fellowship as such helps to get one step closer to the goal of independent research group leadership.«
