General information about the degree program
History of the degree program
The accredited Master's degree course in Continuing Education Research and Organizational Development was developed on the basis of an extensive, Germany-wide needs analysis at the Faculty of Education at TU Dresden. The University Executive Board has confirmed the establishment of the degree program. Enrolment has been possible since the 2010/2011 winter semester.
Course content
The degree program is based on the need for specialists who have both business and educational
and pedagogical fields of activity, but does not require a background in business and economics.
Business Administration and Economics. The course
The course qualifies specialists who want to act in an interdisciplinary manner and
between the social and the economic.
The degree program is research-oriented and at the same time imparts application-oriented
skills through its clear theory-practice link. The
modules focus on teaching and applying knowledge relevant to education, the labour market and research, including organizational development, education management, personnel development, human resources management, quality development, controlling, vocational and adult education, educational governance, empirical research methods and lifelong learning.
Interdisciplinary events, practical experience, research projects and key skills round off the program.
Career prospects
Graduates of this degree program have a wide range of opportunities in practice and research, for example in the fields of continuing education and organizational development, personnel management, personnel development, education management, program planning and many more. In addition, upon successful completion, the degree program also entitles you to admission to a doctorate in order to pursue an academic career.

Admission to the program
For admission to the degree program, you need
- a first professionally qualifying university degree in educational science or a related subject and
- proof of special aptitude: proof of performance graded at least "good" in two of the following four areas:
(1) Empirical Research Methods, (2) Organizational Development, (3) Adult Education/Continuing Education and/or (4) Lifelong Learning and Educational Systems.
