Trust lecturers
Since the winter semester 2017/2018, two trust lecturers have been available for individual consultation in case of questions and problems regarding your studies. The trust lecturers are elected by the students of Sociology. Since February 2019, the trust lecturers have been Romy Simon and Stephan Hein.
All students of Sociology are cordially invited to seek advice on various topics and problems and, together with the trust lecturers, look for solutions. The lecturers will assist you in solving your problems by being available for confidential discussions and by informing you about further options and places that offer counselling. They are contacts in case of problems - no matter if they arise among students, with lecturers, with regard to your studies in general or in connection with a final thesis. It is one of the aims to resolve irritations and problematic situations before they become serious problems. It goes without saying that every conversation is treated confidentially.
The counselling offered does not, however, cover academic problems - these need to be discussed with the supervising Chairs or research and teaching associates. For topics related to the content of studies, the academic advisors will of course continue to be available. If, however, your studies or work are not going well, if there are misunderstandings, conflicts, unexpected changes or even experiences of discrimination, the trust lecturers will always be ready to listen to your concerns.
The Institute's trust lecturers are bound to confidentiality.
Note: Where conflicts with members of the Institute are the reason for the consultation, please refrain from naming the parties involved in the conflict.
