Dr. Manès Weisskircher leads the BMFTR-funded research group REXKLIMA (Far-right politics versus climate action?) at the Institute of Political Science, TU Dresden. Currently, he is a Visiting Scholar at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies, Harvard University (January to May 2026). He holds a PhD from the European University Institute (2019).
Dr. Manès Weisskircher is associate editor of the Politische Vierteljahresschrift (German Political Science Quarterly), the journal of Germany's Association for Political Science. Moreover, he is affiliated to the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX), University of Oslo, and the Center for Civil Society Research, Berlin Social Science Center (WZB). He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue.
Dr. Weisskircher's research focuses on social movements, political parties, democracy, and the far right. His research has been published in journals such as the European Journal of Political Research, Party Politics, Political Studies, Government & Opposition, Social Movement Studies, German Politics, Politics and Governance, Sociological Perspectives, etc. He is one of the authors of 'Gains and Losses: How Protestors Win and Lose' (Oxford University Press). He is editor of the volume "Contemporary Germany and the Fourth Wave of Far-Right Politics" (Routledge) and the Special Issue "New Contentious Politics. In the past Dr. Weisskircher taught at universities in Bonn, Bucharest, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Lüneburg, and Vienna and at the social science college of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
