US Consul General for Central Germany Kenichiro Toko visits JoDDiD - Exchange on political education in Germany and the USA
Today, Friday, November 12, 2021, the JoDDiD had a very special international visitor. The US Consul General for Central Germany, Kenichiro Toko, came to JoDDiD accompanied by Geerte Hündorf (Public Affairs Advisor, U.S. Consulate General Leipzig) and Peter Rosenbaum (Director international office TU Dresden) for an exciting discussion on political education in international comparison.
With the opportunity to present the John Dewey Center for Civic Education internationally for the first time in this form, we engaged in a lively exchange about civic education in Germany and the USA as well as the current challenges of democracy worldwide. Together we identified synergies as well as similar needs and potentials in the research and further development of civic education for international cooperation, for which the first foundations could be laid at this meeting today.
We would like to thank everyone for their interest in civic education in Saxony and our work at JoDDiD and look forward to further enriching exchanges.
