Students from the CÉGEP de Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, were also guests in Bettina Lindorfer's seminar "Migration and uprooting in the Francophonie" during their stay in Germany.
Based on the poetry of the Québec poet Joséphine Bacon, they discussed the history and present of the autochthones in Québec.
Joséphine Bacon, born in 1947 in Pessamit, Québec, Canada, is a Canadian writer, translator and director.
She belongs to the First Nation of the Innu and writes in French and Innu-Aimun.
Joséphine Bacon is considered the "grande dame of indigenous literature" in the province of Québec.
She is committed to promoting her language and culture worldwide and has received numerous honors, including the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec 2018 and the Prix Samuel de Champlain for her representation of Canadian culture in France in 2019.
She was awarded honorary doctorates from the Universities of Laval in 2016 and Québec in 2021.
