Symposium for students and teachers 'Zur Sprache, Sachsen! MORE│Languages│Didactics' on September 08, 2018
On September 8, 2018, the rooms of TU Dresden on August-Bebel-Straße, which had been taken over the day before by the pupils of the 1st Dresden Children's Cultures University and decorated with their products, were visited by students and teachers.
The multilingual symposium was opened by Prof. Dr. Christian Prunitsch, Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies at TU Dresden, Dr. Elke Ehrlich, advisor at the Saxon State Ministry of Culture, and her 'official sister' at the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, Dr. Marie Černíková, the organizing team of the symposium consisting of Peggy Germer, Veronika Haupt and Kristian Raum as well as Prof. Dr. Roswitha Böhm, Director of the CFF. Prof. Dr. Axel Gehrmann, Managing Director of the ZLSB, sent his greetings and wishes for an inspiring symposium from Japan via video message.

Tschechisch-Sprachanimation mit Jana Neuper (Tandem)
A keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Daniel Reimann, University of Duisburg-Essen, on 'Foreign language(s) in a multilingual society' and approaches to 'enlightened multilingualism' was followed by practical examples of language animation by Jana Neuper and Veronika Haupt, who encouraged the participants to communicate immediately in Czech.

In numerous workshops, the approximately 90 participants then explored issues such as the consideration of multilingual didactic approaches in the classroom, the potential of digital learning opportunities in communicative foreign language teaching as well as possibilities for realizing school partnerships and dealing with regional identity to strengthen the European idea.
In addition to the workshops, there were numerous opportunities to exchange ideas at the lunch buffet and at galleries and stands. The symposium was concluded with a panel discussion entitled 'Saxony Bowl', moderated by Prof. Daniel Reimann, in which the social significance of learning foreign languages and cultures was openly addressed, particularly in Saxony, and the concern was also articulated by the plenum that the latest measures taken by the Saxon Ministry of Culture due to the shortage of teachers could lead to a slump in second foreign languages.
