MERLIN
The EU project MERLIN, coordinated by the Institute of Romance Studies, has been successfully completed. The project (01/2012-12/2014) was co-funded by the European Union as part of the Lifelong Learning Program (project number).
MERLIN provides an empirical basis for working with the frame of reference for Czech, Italian and German as a foreign language. The learner corpus can be helpful, for example, in the development of teaching and learning materials, in the creation of curricula or in the construction of CEFR-related language tests.
On the MERLIN website(www.merlin-plattform.eu), interested parties can now freely view and download texts written by learners of Italian, German and Czech. The total of almost 2300 texts are reliably related to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Users have access to...
- the writing tasks (from standardized language tests)
- the full learner texts
- metadata, e.g. on the native language, age or gender of the learner
- annotations (e.g. regarding grammatical or other errors that occur in the learner texts)
