Subjects-specific foci
German Studies and Media Cultures
In addition to the subject-specific concentrations, there are cross-cutting topics that can be studied beyond the subjects. These include:

The subject-specific focus is designated at the end of the program. Students can have an emphasis in the subject area of their choice designated on their degree certificate, provided they have received 60 credit points in it during the course of their studies. In addition, the Master's thesis must have been completed in the respective department. In the field of English and American Studies, you must also demonstrate English proficiency at the C2.1 level. For the designation of the specialization in Romance Studies, proof of French or Italian language skills on level C1 is required, in Slavic Studies proof of Russian, Czech, Polish or Sorbian language skills on level C1. All language levels are based on the European reference framework. In the Department of Classical Philology, proof of Latinum and Graecum is required. (Students of the TU Dresden have a free quota of SWS (Semesterwochenstunden/hours per week) to participate in language courses).
