---|---|---|
1. | When is the best time to go? | Bachelor, 5th semester (Modules in this semester are the most flexible for credit transfer). |
2. | Is a letter of recommendation from a university teacher required to participate in the ERASMUS program? | No, no expert opinion is required. However, if a university lecturer has written a report, this can be enclosed with the application. |
3. | Many universities have not yet published any or incomplete course lists at this stage. Should I fill out a Learning Agreement at all in this case? | Yes - you need it for your mobility grant. You can fill in the details for credit transfer later. Try to select courses from the course lists of the previous year, if necessary. |
4. | Is the Learning Agreement submitted with the ERASMUS application already binding or can I still change it after I have been offered a place? | No, it is still possible to make changes during your stay. There are tables C and D in the Learning Agreement for this purpose. Table D is replaced by the "Application for preliminary examination" at our Faculty. |
5. | Is it generally possible that the successful attendance of sufficient courses in a certain subject area at the host university can replace the complex examination in this subject area at the home university? | This must be specifically agreed with the university lecturer responsible for the subject at our Faculty. This HSL can confirm the recognition or, for example, specify additional coursework to be completed. |
6. | Is it possible to attend courses at the host university that are actually designed for different years at the same time, e.g. 2nd year undergraduate and 3rd year undergraduate courses in one semester? | This should be agreed with the respective host university if a corresponding place has been allocated. |
7. | Is it possible to attend courses at the host university that are not offered in the computer science or media informatics curriculum at the host university? How do I have to proceed? | This is generally possible. Please ask the host university politely and clarify whether the visit can be made possible. Do not forget to clarify in advance whether the course will be recognized at TU Dresden. |
8. | Different partner universities award different ECTS credits for the same courses. Are the credits at the universities the same? How can I convert them? | The ECTS points awarded per module vary from university to university. It is therefore not possible to draw any university-wide conclusions. However, all ECTS points have one thing in common. One ECTS point corresponds to a workload of around 30 hours for an average student. As this is always quite abstract, you can use the rule of thumb of 2 SWS = 3 ECTS to roughly estimate the workload. |
9. | What should be entered in the column Course unit code (if any) and page no. of the information package? At my chosen host university, the modules do not have a code number. | At many universities, the courses have a unique number that should be entered in this column. If this is not the case at your host university, simply leave this field blank. |
10. | I would like to go to England and my host university has trimesters. How many ECTS credits do I need? | You should complete 60 ECTS credits per academic year. You will then have to earn approx. 20 ECTS points per trimester. |
