Portrait of Professor Bocklisch
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thilo Bocklisch has held the Chair of Energy Storage Systems since April 2016. He was born in 1977 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz.
Without energy storage systems ... a full supply of renewable energy for the electricity, heating and mobility sectors would not be possible. Hybrid energy storage systems are a promising technology for balancing out fluctuations in generation and consumption in the short and long term. These consist of a combination of different energy storage systems with complementary operating characteristics. Innovative system concepts and methods for optimizing the design and operational management of energy storage systems for stationary, mobile and portable applications form the core research areas.
Being a professor ... allows you to design your own research line, engage in a lively exchange with students, staff and the scientific community and transfer innovative research results for industrial use.
Students ... often become aware of the diverse opportunities and offers of a university far too late. Those who approach this "learning space" with interest, curiosity, open-mindedness, perseverance, creativity and commitment can embark on a very special, individual career path. Stubbornness and commitment are fun!
In the future ... we will live on the basis of one hundred percent renewable energy and at the same time dedicate ourselves to creating sustainable material, ecological and economic cycles. A greater awareness of nature and our fellow human beings will enable us to live sensible and extraordinary lives.
If I could go back to university ... I would choose to study engineering again and spend my free time playing a musical instrument and jazz music.
Excellence ... means growing beyond your own limits - with the aim of making a difference in the world. Ambition and a certain degree of seriousness, responsible action and commitment to an intelligent, social community are of great importance.
