The Chair of Aircraft Engineering
Flying is mankind's dream come true, and it is not over yet. Through ever new developments in the fields of aerodynamics, aeronautical propulsion, aeronautical structures and aircraft manufacturing, aircraft are becoming more and more efficient and usable for everyone. At the Chair of Aircraft Engineering we offer everything necessary to work on this dream as an aeronautical engineer. Every year, more than 100 students choose aerospace engineering as their field of study. About half of them specialize in the field of aircraft engineering.
Regarding teaching, the Chair of Aircraft Engineering offers courses on topics ranging from aircraft design and aircraft structures to aeroelasticity and aircraft manufacturing, and on to aircraft maintenance and repair. Fiber reinforced composites and the application of numerical simulation tools also play an important role in the field of aircraft engineering. Student research projects and internships allow students to participate in current research projects and establish initial industrial contacts.
The main research areas are:
- Design, analysis and testing of aerostructures,
- Development of simulation and optimization tools for aerostructures,
- Preliminary aircraft design.
