MW-VNT-98 Paper cycles and waste paper processing
Qualification goals
Students have basic knowledge of the paper cycle, types of waste paper and collection systems. They will have knowledge of the structure and function of the machines, units and systems used in the waste paper preparation process and know the possibilities and limits of paper recycling, taking into account life science engineering (e.g. recycling-friendly design, product development, food contact), life cycle analysis and the recycling and disposal of residual materials. Students are able to apply the basic processes of waste paper processing.
Contents
Based on the general material cycles, the module covers the paper cycle, including the types of waste paper, selected legal framework conditions, the development of waste paper use and waste paper collection, important aspects of life science engineering & life cycle assessment, the individual processes as well as the technology including machines and systems for processing waste paper into waste paper pulp and methods for evaluating waste paper.
