Federal President Visits Dresden as a Top Location for Carbon Concrete
Within his two-day visit to Saxony, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was welcomed at TU Dresden on November 14th 2017. Together with his wife Elke Büdenbender he was informed about current research projects and the material carbon concrete at the Center for Regenerative Therapies (CRTD, Excellence Cluster).
In a 45-minute presentation, Professors Manfred Curbach, Chokri Cherif, and Peter Offermann, who were awarded the Future Prize 2016, gave an overview on carbon concrete and the corresponding major research project C³ – Carbon Concrete Composite.
In profound discussions with entrepreneurs and scientists, the Federal President and his wife were informed about environmental, economical , and social advantages of this innovative compound material. By means of numerous demonstrators presenting the material from its origins to the final product, the specific lightness and formability of carbon concrete were demonstrated impressively.
