- The first lectures on textile technology findings and problems are held at the then Royal Saxon Polytechnic.

- The Institute for Textile and Paper Technology is founded by Prof. Meister at the TH Dresden.

- The textile machinery laboratory is officially handed over.
1939
- The former Chair of Textile and Paper Technology is headed by Prof. Paul-August Koch (student of Prof. Herzog).
- The chair is rededicated as the Chair of Fiber Science.
1946
- Dr.-Ing. Walter Frenzel is appointed full professor and director of the Institute of Textile and Paper Technology.
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. Walter Frenzel represents the fields of yarn production technology, fabric production technology and textile testing.

- Prof. Walter Frenzel establishes the Institute for Fiber Technology of the German Academy of Sciences (DAdW) in Pirna-Copitz, later located on Hohe Straße in Dresden, and successfully heads it alongside his university activities until 1959.
1953
- Two independent institutes are founded from the Institute of Textile and Paper Technology: Institute of Textile Technology and Institute of Paper Technology.
1954
- Work begins on the new building for the Institute for Fiber Technology on Hohe Strasse under Prof. Walter Frenzel.
- One section of the building is handed over to the Institute of Textile Technology at the TH Dresden for use.
1957
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Wolfgang Bobeth takes over as head of the Institute of Textile Technology following Prof. Frenzel's retirement. He represents the teaching areas of textile fibers and textile testing.

- Prof. Wolfgang Bobeth also takes over the management of the Institute for Fiber Technology at DAdW.
1960
- The appointment of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Harald Perner is appointed to the Institute of Textile Technology. He takes over the specialist areas of yarn production, fabric production and project planning for textile companies.
1961
- The Institute of Textile Technology and some of its staff move into the 3rd construction phase of the building at Hohe Straße 6.
1965
- Prof. Wolfgang Bobeth suggests the establishment of a lectureship for ready-made clothing.
- As lecturer, Dr.-Ing. Roland Nestler promotes the establishment of a teaching and research group as well as a sewing machine laboratory.
1966
- The appointment of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Harald Perner is appointed Chair of Textile Technology and elected Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Technology (until 1968).

- After the 3rd university reform, Prof. Wolfgang Bobeth heads the newly founded Textile Technology department until 1971. The department is part of the Processing and Process Engineering section.
1970
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Roland Nestler is appointed for the field of ready-made clothing (until 1992).
- Dr. Peter Offermann is appointed honorary lecturer for "Textile Technology".

- Prof. Wolfgang Bobeth hands over the management of the Textile Technology department. He continues to represent the field of textile fibers in teaching and research until 1988.
- Prof. Harald Perner takes over as head of the Textile Technology department (until 1977).

- Dr.-Ing. Peter Offermann is appointed lecturer in the field of "Knitted and crocheted fabric production".
1975
- The Institute celebrates "50 years of textile technology" at TU Dresden.

- The Department of Textile Technology becomes the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology.

- Prof. Roland Nestler takes over as head of the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology (until 1990).

- The appointment of Doz. Dr.-Ing. habil. Peter Offermann is appointed Associate Chair of Textile Technology.

- Prof. Harald Perner retires.

- The appointment of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Peter Offermann is appointed Full Professor of Textile Technology.

- The Institute of Textile and Clothing Technology is founded.

- The Friends and Supporters Association of the Institute of Textile and Clothing Technology at TUD Dresden University of Technology is founded.
1992
- The 1st Dresden Textile Conference takes place. Since then it has been held every 2 years in Dresden.
- It is organized by the "Dresdner Forschungs- und Ausbildungsgemeinschaft Textil" (DFAG), which includes the ITB.

- Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Hartmut Rödel is appointed Chair of Clothing Technology, to which he is finally appointed on 01.10.1996.

- Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hilmar Fuchs is appointed Honorary Professor of Technical Textiles at TU Dresden.
1995/1996
- The institute section at Hohe Str. 6 and the textile machine hall at the Zeunerbau are reconstructed.

- The textile machine hall is given the name "Walter-Frenzel-Bau".
July 1999
- The first Collaborative Research Centre is launched, in which the ITB works on several sub-projects: "Textile Reinforcements for Structural Strengthening and Repair" (DFG Collaborative Research Centre 528; spokesperson: Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Curbach, TU Dresden, Institute of Concrete Structures).
2000
- A second textile machine hall is built on the TU core campus.
- The "Technical Textiles" Competence Center is established at TU Dresden.
January 2004
- The second Collaborative Research Center is launched, in which the ITB works on several sub-projects: "Textile-Reinforced Composite Components for Function-Integrating Mixed Construction Methods in Complex Lightweight Applications" (DFG - Collaborative Research Center 639; Spokesperson: Prof. Dr.-Ing.
