Pupils put materials through their paces
On November 16, 2024, the hands-on day "Crafts, Technology, Science for Children and Young People" took place at the vocational school center in Bautzen - a good opportunity to get pupils interested in STEM subjects and attract future students.
The Chair of Materials Technology at the Institute of Materials Science was involved this year with the "Putting materials through their paces" station. Dr. Vetter, Dr. Schubert and Dr. Rentsch showed interested students at five stations how metallic materials differ from each other and which measuring methods can be used to detect these differences. The participants were allowed to prepare, microscope and characterize the sample material provided on site under supervision. The offer was very well received, so that a continuation is planned for 2025.
