Sub-Saharan Africa
TU Dresden is present with research projects and activities in all four regions of sub-Saharan Africa. These include Ghana and Burkina Faso in West Africa, Cameroon and Angola in Central Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia in East Africa and South Africa and Namibia in Southern Africa. These collaborations, which are managed at a decentralized level, primarily cover the fields of hydrosciences, forestry, Business Administration and Economics, architecture, biology, chemistry, medicine and computer science.
Based on this diversity of research collaborations, an Africa strategy is to be initiated at central level in order to activate relevant networks and organizations to increase impact and promote topics in line with the SDGs.
The activities with Stellenbosch University play a special role in increasing visibility in the region and opening up new network fields.
