New: The Dresden Transfer Bulletin "Biotechnology"
Dresden, May 2016: In the current issue of the Dresden Transfer Bulletin, the publishers focus on the topic of “Biotechnology”. Prof. Gerhard Rödel, TUD’s Vice-Rector for Research, attests that the Bio-sciences at the University of Excellence have had a persistent and steady development over the past years. The research areas of Life Science, Bioengineering and Biomedicine had a profile building effect and provided strong impetuses for cooperation and internationalisation.
It is spectacular, what the researchers at the TU Institute of Applied Photophysics intend to do with their innovative organic sensors: They anticipate numerous, novel application possibilities for their development and hope for a cheaper and more mobile device for measuring blood glucose levels for diabetic patients. Exciting results are also expected through the interdisciplinary activities of lightweight engineers and medical experts. They bundle their expertise and jointly develop an experimental device for improved tumour diagnosis.
At the Institute for Biochemical Engineering scientists around Dr.-Ing. Felix Lenk meticulously work on the “smart lab” of the future. “hypep” – the road to blood pressure regulating foods: Scientists at the Chair of Food Engineering use a patented hydrolysis process in order to extract effective peptides from whey. Access to the most modern, cutting-edge research infrastructure is equally important for science and business: Discover the network of imaging equipment BioDIP and further technology platforms in Dresden – the Life Science prime research location. The current issue “Biotechnology” also informs you about successful spin-off projects. Get to know the activities of DyNAbind, Senorics, DeNovoMATRIX, Lipotype or DICure and their founders’ visions and the support they receive through the divers transfer actors such as dresdenIexists and the Transfer Office in Dresden – the Life Science prime research location.
