Lena von Goedeke: "Revolution I" (2023); long exposure
The conceptual artist Lena von Goedeke, Schaufler Residency@TU Dresden 2024, and the literary scholar Svenja Engelmann-Kewitz, TU Dresden, will talk about the significance of the Arctic in the context of the climate crisis and extreme futures at the start of the six-month artistic research fellowship entitled "Tipping Points".
At the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden, Lena von Goedeke will deal with current Arctic research, focusing on the potentials and challenges of various remote sensing technologies. For several years now, von Goedeke has been collecting information and thoughts on the ethical and technological aspects of generating images of the world using satellites.
Svenja Engelmann-Kewitz works in the project "Disrupt! Research" project at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at TU Dresden on her doctoral project on contemporary literature of the circumpolar North, for which she conducted a research stay at the Glacier Lab of the University of Oregon in 2023.the conversation will be moderated by Gwendolin Kremer, curator of the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden and Research Associate at the Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections of TU Dresden.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Department of Speculative Transformation of TU Dresden and the Excellence Program TUDiSC as part of the exhibition "Designing Futures Together: Visionary Realities" at COSMO in the Kulturpalast Dresden, Schloßstraße 2, 01067 Dresden.
