The Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine has two central units: General Medicine and the Center for Midwifery Sciences.
Other centers, facilities and partners
The Research Facilities bundle modern technologies, equipment and expertise for medical research. The Core Facilities Dresden University Medicine (CFDmed) are the central technology platform of the Faculty of Medicine. It provides scientists with the research infrastructure and special expertise. It offers easy access to resources for scientific activities and thus ensures optimal utilization of the research infrastructure. It also aims to promote interdisciplinary cooperation between the schools, strengthen knowledge transfer within TU Dresden and the DRESDEN-concept network and ensure the long-term quality and up-to-dateness of the research infrastructure.
Objectives of CFDmed
- Promoting interdisciplinarity - supporting innovative research approaches by facilitating scientific exchange within the MF-TUD.
- Strengthening third-party funding capability - increasing the success rate of third-party acquisitions through joint use and strategic development of the research infrastructure.
- Sustainability and resource efficiency - optimizing the use of resources to ensure a sustainable research infrastructure.
- Integration of early-career researchers - facilitating access to state-of-the-art technologies and promoting the scientific development of young researchers.
- Transparency and equity of access - ensuring fair and transparent access to resources for all scientists. CFDmed is integrated into the Dresden technology platform management software ReCoN.
- Dynamic further development of services - Continuous adaptation of services to changing scientific requirements.

Die BioBank Dresden besteht aus den Teilbiobanken für Gewebe (Tumor- und Normalgewebebank | Institut für Pathologie) und Flüssigbioproben (Dresden Integrated Liquid Biobank | Institut für Klinische Chemie und Laboratoriumsmedizin). Gemeinsam bieten wir Ärzt:innen und Forscher:innen zahlreiche Services rund um das Thema Biobanking an und entwickeln uns in enger Einbindung an das Deutsche Biobanken Netzwerk ständig weiter.
