Funding Opportunities
TU Dresden and the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine have excellent international networks and maintain long-standing partnerships with scientific institutions and universities worldwide. As part of the internationalization strategy, but also beyond that, there are a large number of funding programmes that are intended to facilitate and enable the implementation of research projects with an international focus. For support with project applications, you will also find further contacts in our Service for Researchers team. You can find an overview of all programs on this website.

SprInt Program
The SprInt program at TU Dresden offers free training opportunities to improve language and intercultural skills. These opportunities include online English courses, workshops and individual coaching sessions with native speakers. With the innovative concept of "International Experience@Home", intercultural experience can also be gained directly on site without having to travel abroad.
All employees of university medicine can participate in the SprInt program. From employees at the medical faculty to scientific employees.
The training opportunities are free of charge for participants.
Registration is possible at any time via the registration form on the website.
In addition, weekly online consultation hours are offered every Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
External funding opportunities
In the Research Connect database you will find a wide range of funding opportunities. You can search by subject area, type of organization or qualification level to find a suitable funding program.
Funding programs of the European Union
The funding programs of the European Union are diverse and complex. The European Project Center (EPC) at TU Dresden provides information and advice on European programs, for example on research and innovation funding, international cooperation or funding from the Saxony Structural Fund.
Project funding is possible in the following EU funding programs, for example:
- Horizon Europe - the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation
- Erasmus+ Key Action 2 - Cooperation for the promotion of innovation and the exchange of best practices: project funding within the framework of cooperation partnerships, innovation alliances or international capacity building projects in higher education
-
COST - The Initiative for European Cooperation in Science and Technology enables networking and scientific exchange in order to initiate and realize joint research projects.
Funding programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
The DAAD offers various programs for project funding in Germany and abroad for a broad target group. Some of these programs are designed for cooperation with different countries or regions, such as the PAJAKO program - Partnerships with Japan and South Korea.
Other programs are geared towards working with specific target groups, such as the alumni program for training and retaining international alumni. The project-related exchange of persons program promotes joint research activities through short-term stays by (young) researchers.
Further information on project funding programs can be found in the DAAD database.
Funding programs of the German Research Foundation (DFG)
The DFG promotes scientific excellence in competition and supports international research cooperation, e.g. through travel grants or the exchange of students and scientists. The DFG offers the following funding opportunities for projects and collaborations with international partners:
- Support for establishing international collaborations for postdoctoral researchers in the German research system
- Scientific networks provide the opportunity for multi-year, cross-location exchange on a scientific topic of their choice
- Grants in kind & joint calls for proposals with partner organizations
- International Research Training Groups (IRTGs) for the promotion of early-career researchers
