It is estimated that around 6000 to 8000 languages exist worldwide. 150 languages exist in Europe, 23 of which are recognized official languages. As an interpreter or translator, you translate a source language into a target language and help to overcome language barriers between people.20 You speak several languages and ensure communication between those present at exhibitions, press conferences or political debates, for example. To do this, you must have a very high level of proficiency in at least two languages. 21
Interpreters mainly translate orally, while translators tend to do so in writing. The translator translates, for example, operating instructions, expert opinions, contracts or literary works into another language in written form. However, the tasks of an interpreter can also include translating written texts. Therefore , the two professions are difficult to separate.22

Using scientifically proven and verifiable methods, they try to gain information about e.g. markets or population groups . The collected results are then processed into statistics, diagrams, analyses and forecasts. On this basis, the researchers then often make recommendations, e.g. for further improvements of a product.
