MAYPOLE 2019 - INTERNATIONAL  RIBBON DANCE

On Saturday, April 27^th, at 11 o’clock, a maypole will be erected by local carpenters and bound in ribbon by 30 students and scientists from TU Dresden. The traditional ribbon dance with green and white ribbons as the Saxon colours will be performed by internationals from all over the world with their own national costumes. Through this event also Dresden keeps its tradi­tio­ns alive in the urban environment. The event is open to all interested people for view­ing at the opening of the Dresden spring market on Dresden Altmarkt Square. After­wards the folk dance ensemble "Thea Maass" of TU Dresden shows more traditional dances and all guests are invited to join in some fun and easy folk dance cho­reog­ra­phies.

To help that the dance can be shown, you are invited to participate in the dancing project, which trainings start on Thursday, April 2^nd, 7 to 8.30 p.m., at Alte Mensa, Mommsen­str. 13. No prior dancing experience is needed.
Further training sessions will follow on Thu, April 4^th, Thu, April 11^th, Tue, April 16^th, Tue, April 23^rd, Thu, April 25^th. The practice takes place from 7 to 8.30 p.m.
Participation is free of charge, but do consider that your commitment is binding.
