Checklist “My start to my studies in the summer semester of 2026”
Have you successfully enrolled on your degree program? Congratulations! Our checklist will help you start your studies at TU Dresden!
After enrollment
- look for a place in a hall of residence or a shared flat
- apply for BAföG at the Studentenwerk Dresden or look for other financing options
- find out about IT services (ZIH login, e-mail, WLAN, PC pools, etc.)
- find out about the Campuscard (student ID card); international students collect their Campuscard at the SCS Servicepoint; all others receive it by post)
- save your semester ticket in your wallet
- use online preparatory courses (if useful for your degree program)
My first week
- Please note the information provided by the faculties and student councils regarding the start of your studies
- find out about the semester schedule
- view study documents for the degree program (can be found in the student information system and on the faculties' websites)
- create a timetable or download it from the respective faculty website
- get to know OPAL and selma
- get to know the campus
- register for language course(s)
- register for sports course(s)
- get to know the library(s)
- follow the TU Dresden Instagram channel
- re-register your place of residence at the citizens' offices of the city of Dresden
- network with other first-year students

- register at Early warning system PASST?!

- explore the student council and student initiatives
- view information “All about studying” after the start of the semester
