Application hints and tips
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. You can find the appropriate form on the Admissions Office website.
General information for the degree programme
The four-semester programme conveys knowledge, abilities and skills for planning, design and development of open spaces and landscapes in different scale levels. It qualifies for a self-sufficient and responsible planning, design and scientific work. Graduates will be able to cope with the central working fields of Landscape architecture, among them landscape design, landscape planning, landscape construction, plant use, urban planning, history of landscape architecture and landscape heritage. Contrary to the trend of specialization the programme offers the chance of a broad range of qualifications.
A key aspect of the planning-oriented studies for landscape architects at the TU Dresden is the connection of artistic, creative, scientific, ecological, planning and technical course components, which can be supplemented by relevant courses in other disciplines. Particulary noteworthy is the close networking with the urban planning and architecture programme.
Project courses are important components at all stages of this programme, among them two mandatory modules in landscape design and landcape planning and four projects with individual electives in landscape design, landscape planning, landscape construction, plant use, urban planning, history of landscape architecture or landscape heritage.
Mandatory moduls in legal bases and management capabilities are part of the progamme as well. An extensive supply of mandatory electives allows an individual focus and profiling.
A professional internship of 11 weeks is included in the four semester programme.
