General information for the degree programme
University medicine in Dresden favors interdisciplinary, problem-oriented courses, learning and teaching in small groups and courses geared towards practical clinical applications. The pre-clinical stage focuses on scientific knowledge from a clinical perspective. Starting in the seventh semester, students can take part in a clinical practice day that gives them the chance to work as a member of a medical care team.
In addition to the integration of multimedia and e-learning, there are excellent opportunities for learning diagnostic techniques and emergency care using teaching simulators.
Starting in the 2nd semester, students will put their basic skills and doctor-patient communication proficiency to the test in the Medical Interprofessional Training Center. Cooperation agreements with academic teaching practices afford our students direct insight into general medicine by way of workplace shadowing.
By participating in the MD doctoral program, our students can expand on their independent, academic work skill set. Transitioning to the international PhD program is also possible as part of postgraduate studies. Contracts with international partners make it is easy for our students to gain experience abroad.
