Admission requirements
• completion of a first degree in Public Health or a degree program with the same subject of focus at a university or vocational academy that is officially recognized in Germany
• Proficiency in English at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
• one year of experience working in the field of public health
Aptitude assessment and NC (numerus clausus) selection procedures
The participation in an aptitude assessment or selection procedure is a prerequisite for enrollment in this degree program. Please note that the deadline for submitting an application may be earlier than the application deadlines for the degree program (see above under application deadlines). The following links will provide you with information on all documents to be submitted within the specified deadline and on the relevant regulations.
In conjunction with the selection quota of the numerus clausus (restricted admission) selection process, applicants will be assessed and entered into a ranking list pursuant to the following criteria.
1. Final overall grade of the first degree qualifying them for a specific profession
2. Duration of previous practical work experience in the field of public health (at least 1 year)

First-semester applications can only be submitted in even-numbered calendar years.
General information about the degree program
Research and teaching on Public Health focus primarily on the conditions for good health and the causes of illness; the interactions between humans and their natural, technical and social environments; health promotion and disease management; the services offered by the health system and the opportunities for controlling health policy as well as the evolution and quality control of this system.
This postgraduate studies program provides the theoretical foundations, the practical skills and the expertise necessary for work in research, management, administration and industry within the field of public health.
The degree program consists of compulsory modules (75 credit points) and elective compulsory modules (15 credit points). Students can organize their elective compulsory modules to a certain extent according to their own concentration selection. These are supplemented by a practical public health project (2nd semester) and the Master’s thesis (30 credit points) including the defense, which is completed in the 4th semester.
The degree program lasts for 4 semesters and, upon completion, students are awarded the title Master of Public Health (MPH). New students are admitted every two years (in the even calendar years).
