Health at work
TU Dresden attaches great importance to ensuring that its staff are able to work in a healthy and safe environment. There are various measures in place to guarantee this, including ergonomic workstations and regular health consultations. You can find much more information on this topic in the lecture series “In Focus – The University as a place of work” (on OPAL).
Preventive occupational health care and advice
Personal advice on individual work-related health risks is the focal point of the Ordinance on Preventive Occupational Health Care (ArbMedVV). The aim of preventive occupational health is to detect work-related illnesses at an early stage or prevent them altogether. In addition, you can also make use of holistic preventive care, which includes various examinations such as blood tests, urine tests and eye tests. You can, of course, also ask your questions during the subsequent medical consultation.
Occupational Integration Management
People with long-term or chronic conditions often face unique challenges in the workplace. The Integration Team offers support and can answer questions about returning to work after a period of illness and optimizing your workplace. For more information, please visit the Occupational Integration Management websites.
Ergonomics and supporting products
Ergonomic consultation
An ergonomic workplace design can prevent and alleviate muscular or skeletal issues associated with sedentary computer work. We are happy to provide support in designing an ergonomic screen-based work station. Come to our Occupational Health Services office hours or get a consultation directly in your place of work. Please email us at to schedule an appointment. You can also borrow various products to test out yourself at Occupational Health Services. For example:

A checklist for monitor-based work stations is available to download here. You will find important information and recommendations on working at a computer screen on the following slides. You are also encouraged to share these with your colleagues.
Physiotherapeutic workplace analysis

Glasses
Customized computer glasses can significantly help reduce the strain on the eyes and prevent poor posture. If necessary, you can get a prescription for glasses of this kind from the Occupational Health Services. For more information, please visit the workplace glasses page.
Occupational health & safety
To prevent accidents and create a safe environment for our staff, TU Dresden offers various occupational health and safety services. Unit Safety at Work, Unit Radiation Protection and the Environmental Protection Group provide advice and support to ensure that everyone works in a safe and healthy environment. They belong to the Directorate 4 - Facility Management:, as does Unit Occupational Health Services. Examples of how they work together include joint health and safety inspections, environmental audits in accordance with EMAS, Health Day and environmental management event days.
Sports courses
In addition to these courses, there is also a video on the active break for those who work remotely or cannot attend on site. The Highway-TU-Health also offers the opportunity to get active in your breaks after work time. The Highway-TU-Health is located right in the heart of the TUD campus.
