On December 12, 2023, two additional trees on the TU Dresden campus were handed over to their sponsors. Gunda Röstel and Dr. Undine Krätzig received these as a thank you for their long-term support of TU Dresden. Together with the members of the University Executive Board, they met at the Fritz-Foerster Building to symbolically take over the chestnut trees and watered them thoroughly.

The joint campaign by the environmental protection group of the TU Dresden (Department of Facility Management (Dezernat 4), Infrastructural Facility Management Division (SG 4.4) ), the TU Dresden Foundation and the SIB is based on an initiative of the TUUWI and is part of the campus design master plan. These plantings are not only intended to compensate for the numerous tree fellings due to necessary construction work and traffic safety work, but above all to fundamentally improve the quality of stay on campus. Since 2018, more than 30 tree sponsorships worth 500 euros each have been taken over. These were, for example, donated by employees as gifts for milestone anniversaries, by alumni groups to commemorate joint study days in the past or by cooperation partners as a sign of solidarity with TU Dresden. The locations of the trees sponsored and information about their donors can be found on a map available online.
