Umundu - Festival 2020 - Of remains and resources

This year's Umundu Festival will take place from 9 to 17 October covering the topic waste
Mountains of textile remnants, landfills with household waste, building rubble or electronic waste, plastic that makes its way from floating waste islands in the sea into our food chain and onto our plates: We are increasingly feeling the global impact of our decisions about what we throw away, reuse or reuse, buy or not buy. Living a waste-free life is an enormous challenge for those who have grown up in a culture of permanent availability of things. So are we gradually burying our livelihoods under a layer of waste from the modern throwaway society?
Under the title "Waste - of leftovers and resources", the 12th Umundu Festival for Sustainable Development from 9 to 17 October will rummage through and sort the remnants of our modern way of life. Together with experts and visitors, the aim is to find out how a world without garbage works.
Together with the student environmental initiative tuuwi, the environmental protection group is participating in the Umundu Festival. On Tuesday, 13.10.2020 from 5:00 - 6::00 pm a joint tour of the tuuwi with environmental coordinator Dr. Ines Herr will take place on the campus of the TU Dresden. Meeting is at 5 pm at the StuRa-Baracke of the TU Dresden.
